First Violin
Violinist Carol Chung is Concertmaster of the North Carolina Opera Orchestra and plays as a regular substitute or in an acting section violin capacity with the North Carolina Symphony. In the summers, she performs with the Colorado Music Festival based in Boulder’s Chautauqua Park. She also maintains private teaching studios in both violin and Alexander Technique and serves on the faculties of the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute and the Lamar Stringfield Music Camp. She was a founding member of the piano quartet Quercus from 2009 to 2017, and served for many years as an adjunct instructor of violin at Meredith College. Before moving to Raleigh, Carol was also a member of the Canton (Ohio) and Virginia Symphony orchestras. She holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and has worked and performed with members of the Tokyo, Vermeer, Cavani and Juilliard Quartets.
